Hendersonville suffered their first loss of the 2015 season at Hillsboro 21-49.  After taking a 14-7 lead in the 1st quarter, the COMMANDOS would give up 42 unanswered points on 6 consecutive Hillsboro possessions while only gaining 50 offensive yards of their own.  HHS would struggle in all three phases of the game during the Region 6-5A loss.

Hendersonville would kickoff to begin the game, and the night would look promising early on as the Black & Gold defense would force a 3 & out on the game’s first possession.  The COMMANDO offense would look just as good as the defense on their first series with #4 Mike Harris scoring on a 13 yard run after #10 Jack Towe converted a 3rd down with a run and #20 Terrell Carter made a catch from #6 Brett Coker and ran into Burro territory.  #38 Jacob Harris came out for the PAT and Hendersonville had an early 7-0 lead.  Hillsboro would score the next 7 times they touched the ball.  Following the HHS score, the Burros would use a big pass play to get inside Hendersonville territory before scoring with a 35 yard run to tie the game at 7.  The COMMANDOS would look good on offense again as Carter picked up a 1st down with a run and #3 Anthony Hughes would have a reception to get the ball into Hillsboro territory.  Carter would finish this drive with a 33 yard run putting HHS up 14-7.  Another big pass would spark the Burros on their possession, and on the next play they would score with an 8 yard run to tie the game at 14.

Hendersonville’s next possession would go into the 2nd quarter and Hendersonville would be forced to punt.  A mishandled snap would give Hillsboro the ball at the COMMANDO 13 yard line.  Hendersonville looked to have the Burros stopped on this drive after #54 Daly Cull got a sack on 3rd down setting up a 4th and 27.  Hillsboro would convert on 4th down however with a 30 yard TD pass to give them the lead for good.  Carter would block the PAT to make the score 14-20.  HHS would gain one 1st down on their next series before being forced to punt.  #48 Thomas Roberts punt would pin the Burros at their own 7 yard line.  Being backed up didn’t slow down Hillsboro’s offense as they would gain 5 first downs moving the ball down the field with an 11 play drive that ended with a 2 yard touchdown run.  Hillsboro would fake this PAT and convert to go up 14-28.  Hendersonville would have time to run 3 plays picking up minimal yardage before time ran out on the 1st half with HHS trailing by 14.

Hendersonville would get the ball to start the 2nd half, and Hillsboro would continue their dominance over the COMMANDOS forcing a 3 & out on the first drive.  The Burros would get a 1st down run then have a pass to the 1 yard line setting up a rushing TD.  HHS would get sacked on 3rd down on their next series and give Hillsboro the ball back in COMMANDO territory after a non-successful fake punt.  The Burros would not take long to score here as they would throw for a 15 yard TD pass making the score 14-42.  Towe would get a nice return on the ensuing kickoff setting HHS up at midfield, and Carter would have a good 1st down run on 3rd and long to start a drive.  Mike Harris would also pick up a 1st down run on this series, but eventually the drive would end with no points as HHS would turn the ball over on downs.  On the 2nd play of the Hillsboro drive, they would find the endzone with a 68 yard run.  The Hillsboro TD would be the last play of the 3rd quarter.

Hendersonville would go 3 & out on their next possession and Hillsboro would do the same.  Following the punts, the COMMANDOS would get the final score of the night, moving the ball with runs by #21 Frankie Small, #17 Drew Ferguson, #18 Austin White, and #29 Jacob Eicher.  White would get the touchdown with a 12 yard run.  After the kickoff, time would expire after two more Hillsboro snaps dropping the COMMANDOS from the unbeaten ranks.

Hendersonville (4-1) will play East Nashville (1-4) next week.  The game was originally schedule to be at East Nashville, but has been relocated and will be played at Memorial Stadium.  Kickoff for the game will be at 7:00.

Both the JV and the Freshman teams will be off this week.  The JV team captured a 13-7 win at Beech last Monday, and their final game of the season will be at Memorial Stadium on October 5th starting at 5:00 as they will be taking on Station Camp.  The Freshman won their 4th straight game of the season by winning at Smyrna 49-7.  The Freshman season will continue Thursday October 1st as they will host Station Camp at Memorial Stadium with kickoff scheduled for 6:30.
