COMMANDOS GET WIN IN FINAL NON REGION CONTEST
Friday, September 25, 2015

Hendersonville would get a 15 point victory over the East Nashville Eagles in their last non-Region game of the 2015 season.  HHS would take a 14-0 lead into halftime and eventually win the game 28-13.  With the win, the COMMANDOS improved to 5-1 with four region games left in the season.

The Eagles would receive the opening kickoff, and after gaining a first down with a long pass play, they would find themselves at midfield.  Three plays after the first down, #32 Carter Billingsley would intercept a pass to end East Nashville’s drive and give the COMMANDOS the ball for the first time in the game.  #10 Jack Towe would have a nice 1st down run before Hendersonville would turn the ball back over to the Eagles with a fumble.  East would again pick up a first down with a pass play before being able to convert a 4th down as their drive was moving.  The drive would end with no points as the COMMANDO defense would get a stop the next time the Eagles attempted to convert on 4th down.  Hendersonville’s following possession would see the first points go on the board as it would only take HHS one play to find the endzone as #6 Brett Coker connected with #4 Mike Harris on a 68 yard pass for a touchdown.  #38 Jacob Harris would add the PAT to give HHS a 7-0 lead in the 1st quarter.  Jacob Harris’s kickoff would force the Eagles to start this drive inside their own 5 yard line.  A pass on the last play of the 1st quarter would help East Nashville get the ball off their own goaline.

The Eagles would gain another 1st down as the 2nd quarter began before a tackle for lost yardage by #55 Emmitt Richardson combined with #81 Jordan Amis would help force a punt.  On the first play of this drive for HHS, #20 Terrell Carter would have a long run giving Hendersonville a 1st down inside the red zone.  The COMMANDOS would end up with a touchdown as Coker would find #86 Devan Kincaid for a 4 yard touchdown.  The rest of the 2nd quarter would be uneventful as the teams would trade punts before halftime with HHS holding a 14-0 advantage.

The COMMANDOS would get the ball to start the 2nd half and look good moving the ball down the field.  The drive, that got as close as the 17 yard line, would end with no points as HHS would turn the ball over with a fumble.  Amis would return the ball right back to Hendersonville recovering a fumble on the Eagles 1st snap.  Following this turnover, Mike Harris would run the ball to the 6 yard line setting up a 1st & goal.  It would take HHS four plays, but the COMMANODS would find the endzone as Carter scored on a 1 yard run.  Down by 21, the Eagles would have a good kickoff return allowing their drive to start at the COMMANDO 34 yard line.  Back to back 1st downs passing would get the ball to the 3 yard line with a 1st and goal.  Hendersonville would keep the Eagles off the scoreboard here with 4 stops helped out with big plays by Towe and #61 Alex Tate.  Tough runs by Carter and Towe would move the ball off the goaline for HHS following the goaline stand.  Carter would get another good run just before the end of the 3rd quarter.

#3 Anthony Hughes would add a 1st down run before the COMMANDOS were forced to punt.  #48 Thomas Roberts would get a good punt forcing the Eagles to start this drive at their own 10 yard line.  After picking up one first down, the Eagles would bust a big play on HHS as they would find the endzone with a 74 yard touchdown pass.  #57 Parker Hogue would knock down a pass attempt as the Eagles went for two leaving the score 21-6.  Hendersonville would answer the score on their next possession with Towe getting things started for HHS with a run moving the ball into Eagle territory.  Hughes and Carter would add good runs on this drive before Towe scored on a 15 yard run making the score 28-6.  East would score another touchdown going on an 85 yard drive that was 19 plays long and saw 6 first downs.  The score would come on a 2 yard run with 15 seconds remaining on the clock.  The Eagles would add the PAT making the score 28-13.  After HHS recovered an onside kick, they would be able to kneel on the ball for the 15 point win.

Hendersonville (5-1) returns to Region play next week as they will travel to Station Camp (2-4).  Kickoff will be at 7:00 next Friday night.

The Freshman team will return to action this week as they will play at home this Thursday against Station Camp.  That game at Memorial Stadium will begin at 6:30.  The JV team will be off again this week and will return to action the following Monday at home for their final game of the season.
