HENDERSONVILLE SHUTS DOWN BISON
Friday, October 02, 2015

HHS improved to 6-1 this season with a 31-0 victory at Station Camp.  Solid play on defense, offense, and special teams helped the COMMANDOS get the win over a banged up Bison team.  With the win, Hendersonville’s Region 6 record sits at 3-1 which is the same as Hillsboro and Beech.

Hendersonville would get the ball to start the game, and would get a touchdown on the opening possession.  #6 Brett Coker would pass to #4 Mike Harris for a 45 yard TD pass to end a drive that saw #20 Terrell Carter and Coker have good runs to move the ball.  The COMMANDOS first defensive snaps of the night would see them force SCHS to a 3 & out.  On Hendersonville’s next possession, #10 Jack Towe would get going with a good run and a facemask penalty would keep this drive going after the Bison were close to getting a stop.  The COMMANDOS would eventually call on #38 Jacob Harris for a field goal and he would be true on the 31 yarder to put HHS up 10-0.  #25 Eric Tilson would get a big tackle on the ensuing kickoff to force the Bison to start from inside their own 20 yard line.  The COMMANDOS would force another 3 & out.  A good punt return by #43 Luke Carver would set Hendersonville up inside SCHS territory and #3 Anthony Hughes would have a couple of runs that would result in a first down as the 1st quarter came to an end.

Coker would rush for a first down and HHS continued to march down the field.  Towe would convert a 4th down try with a run before Carter would dive into the endzone with a 1 yard run.  Station Camp would get moving on their next series, picking up a couple of 1st downs before #61 Alex Tate got a tackle for loss followed by a 3rd down sack to force the Bison to punt.  Harris would rush for one first down on the COMMANDOS next possession before HHS would punt.  Station Camp would only have time to run 2 more plays before the teams headed in for halftime.

Station Camp came out ready in the second half, as they would pick up a first down with a pass play before HHS would give them another first down with a penalty as they moved the ball inside HHS territory.  The COMMANDOS would hold them to a field goal try, and #21 Frankie Small would block the 31 yard attempt with Tate recovering and returning the block kick to give HHS the ball back near midfield.  Towe would have back to back runs moving the ball closer to the endzone, and Harris would have a good run that would set up a 1st & goal.  Hendersonville would be forced to attempt another field goal, and this 29 yard attempt would be blocked by the Bison.  HHS would force the Bison offense to a 3 & out, and HHS would get another drive going with a run by Harris that moved the ball inside the 20 yard line.  Carter would pound the ball to the 1 yard line, and Coker would run the ball in on the last play of the 3rd quarter as HHS took a 24-0 lead.

Station Camp would be forced to punt again on the first series of the 4th quarter as they went 3 & out.  A good return on the punt by Carter would set HHS up with the ball at the 25 yard line.  Two runs by Hughes is all it would take to end this drive, and his 2nd rush would be a 21 yard touchdown that would be the final score of the game.  HHS would force another 3 & out before the COMMANDOS would turn the ball over on downs giving SCHS the ball back.  After 3 more plays, the Bison would be punting, and on this one, #9 Clay Richard would get a block that #23 Colby Pearl would return setting Hendersonville up with great field position again.  #5 Xavier Fitts would run for a first down which would allow the COMMANDOS to knell on the ball and end the game with a 31-0 win.

Hendersonville (6-1) returns home next Friday night to take on the Gallatin Green Wave (4-3).  Kickoff will be at 7:00

The Freshman team will travel this week for their toughest test of the season as they will go to the Wave Yard on Thursday night to take on the Freshman Green Wave.  Kickoff for the Freshman game will be at 6:30.
