COMMANDOS 7-1 HEADING INTO BYE WEEK
Friday, October 09, 2015

Hendersonville improves to 7-1 before an off week next Friday with a 28 point victory over Gallatin at Memorial Stadium.  The COMMANDOS would execute in all three phases to achieve the win.  #10 Jack Towe & #20 Terrell Carter would combine to score 4 touchdowns with 282 all-purpose yards,  #43 Luke Carver would come up with two interceptions, and #48 Thomas Roberts and #38 Jacob Harris would be solid in the kicking game as HHS would get a Region win.

HHS kicked off to start the game and after three plays, the Green Wave would be facing a 4th & inches.  #7 Weston Schwerdt would get a tackle for loss forcing GHS to turn the ball over on downs deep inside their own territory.  Carter would get a reception followed by a run that set up 1st & goal, and Towe would score the 1st of his three touchdowns with a 5 yard run.  Jacob Harris’s PAT would put the COMMANDOS on top 7-0.  On Gallatin’s next possession, #3 Anthony Hughes would break up a 3rd down pass attempt to force the Green Wave to punt.  Hendersonville would go three & out following the punt.  On this GHS series, they would bust a long run to get ball inside the COMMANDO 20 yard line.  Three more Green Wave runs would set up a 1st & goal.  #24 Reggie Harris would force a Gallatin fumble, but unfortunately for the COMMANDOS, the fumble would bounce into the endzone and GHS would recover for their first score of the night knotting the game up at 7.  The game would not stay tied for long as Towe would take the ensuing kickoff 70 yards giving HHS the lead back 14-7.  Gallatin would have a first down pass on their first play of the next series, then after three more plays they would punt.  Carter’s 56 yard TD return on this punt would be called back for a penalty, but Carter would get this drive started with a first down run on the last play of the 1st quarter.

#4 Mike Harris would end this drive finding the endzone with a 10 yard touchdown run.  The Black & Gold defense would force a 3 & out.  Good runs by Hughes and Mike Harris would get the ball moving for the COMMANDOS again and Towe would finish the drive with a 14 yard touchdown run.  A tackle for loss by #62 Bryan Strahm combining with #86 Deven Kincaid along with a good tackle by #5 Xavier Fitts would force another 3 & out for GHS.  Towe would get the next COMMANDO drive going with a good run on the first play.  #21 Frankie Small would add a good run before Hughes would find the endzone with a 27 yard run to give HHS a commanding 35-7 advantage.  A long pass on Gallatin’s next possession would get the ball into HHS territory, but two plays later, Carver would come up with his first interception of the night giving HHS the ball back.  Towe would again move the chains for HHS with good blocking from the offensive line.  Hendersonville could not keep this drive going as they would have to punt after 3 more plays.  The punt would be the last play of the 1st half as the teams would head to the locker rooms for halftime with HHS leading by 28 points.

Hendersonville would get the ball to start the 2nd half and go on a 13 play 65 yard scoring drive to make the score 42-7.  Highlights of the drive would be 3rd downs converted on runs by #6 Brett Coker, Towe, and Hughes.  Carter would cap the drive off with a 5 yard TD run after he had a catch that set up 1st & goal.  On Gallatin’s 1st possession of the 2nd half, Carver would have his 2nd interception and after his return, Hendersonville would start their drive inside GHS territory for the 4 time.  After four plays, HHS would turn the ball over on downs as the 3rd quarter expired.

The Green Wave would get their 2nd score on the first play of the 4th quarter with a 59 yard TD pass that would end up being the final score of the night.  On Hendersonville’s ensuing possession, they would punt after 3 plays.  After first downs by a run, pass, and an HHS penalty, Gallatin would get the ball inside the Hendersonville 20 yard line, but a 4th down sack by Small would give HHS the ball back.  The COMMANDOS would again go 3 & out on offense.  HHS would give one first down on the next Green Wave possession before sacks by #56 Malik Kinnard & #63 Braiden Dillon forced a turnover on downs which would allow the COMMANDOS to run out the clock.

Hendersonville (7-1) will be off next Friday night.  The COMMANDOS will return to action in two weeks as they travel to Glencliff to take on the Colts.  Kickoff will be at 7:00.
