HHS GET REGION WIN OVER GLENCLIFF

HHS scored on their first offensive play en route to a 45-0victory at Glencliff’s B.H. Thompson Stadium. The COMMANDO defense wouldlimit the Colts to just 92 total yards while the Special Teams unit would playparticularly well.  HHS would score on apunt return and the Colts best starting field position was at their own 30 yardline; they forced GHS to start 9 drives inside their own 20 yard line.  Hendersonville would start 9 of their 11offensive drives inside Glencliff territory with their worst starting fieldposition being their own 43 yard line.

Hendersonville would receive the opening kickoff, and aftera nice return by #10 Jack Towe, the COMMANDOSwould be starting at their own 43 yard line. It would only take HHS one play to put points on the board as #4 MikeHarris would run for 57 yards finding the endzone.  #38 Jacob Harris would add the extra point tomake the score 7-0 early in the game.  OnGlencliff’s first drive, Towe would come up big as he would get a tackle forlost yardage helping HHS force a 3 & out. On this series for HHS, Towe’s first down run would set up Harris toscore his 2nd TD of the night. The Black & Gold defense would force another 3 & out, and HHSwould force a bad punt setting Hendersonville up just 16 yards from theendzone.  #15 John Michael Oehlschlaegerwould set HHS with a 1st and goal on a run, and then he would scorewith a 1 yard run to put the COMMANDOSup 21-0.  #29 Jacob Eicher would combinewith #23 Colby Pearl to tackle the Glencliff returner on the 12 yard line.  #55 Emmitt Richardson would force a fumblethat #22 Caleb Thorton recovered to give HHS the ball at 5 yard line.  After getting a penalty on 1stdown, Hendersonville would run 4 plays and turn the ball back over to theColts.  On the next offensive series forGHS, #54 Daly Cull would get a 3rd down tackle on the last play ofthe 1st quarter that would force the Colts to punt as the 2ndquarter began.

#20 Terrell Carter would get the punt and return it 46 yardsfor a score on the first play of the 2nd quarter.  Carter’s TD would give HHS a 28-0 lead.  Glencliff would go 3 & out.  #3 Anthony Hughes would have a big run forHHS to start this possession and 3 plays later, Hughes would cross the goalinewith a 7 yard run.  On this kickoff, #2Gabe Dalton would come up with a tackle at the 12 yard line.  The Colts would pick up a first down on thisdrive with a pass before being forced to punt. The COMMANDOS would punt theball back to Glencliff after #25 Eric Tilson picked up a first down forHHS.  #17 Drew Ferguson would get atackle for loss for the COMMANDOSthat helped lead to a 3 & out.  Thispunt would be blocked by #16 Justin Ernst and recovered by #43 Luke Carver toset HHS up at the 19 with time winding down before halftime.  The COMMANDOSwould call on Harris for a field goal just before halftime, and he would betrue on the 23 yarder to send HHS to the locker room with a 38-0 lead.

Glencliff would get the ball to start the 2ndhalf, and after picking up a 1st down with a run, they would beforced to punt.  Hendersonville would gothree and out on their first possession of the 2nd half.  On the last play of the 3rdquarter, #50 Matthew Tatum would force a fumble that #19 Isaac Perger wouldpick up and return to the 20 yard line giving HHS the ball back.

HHS would take advantage of this turnover as #5 Xavier Fittswould score with a 20 yard run on the first play of this drive making the score45-0.  Dalton would end the next Coltdrive by coming up with an interception on the 2nd play of theseries.  #31 Tyler Dang would get HHSmoving following this turnover with a 1st down run, then a good runby #36 Michael King would be negated by penalty forcing HHS to punt.  #97 Hunter Foster would have a nicepunt.  Following the punt,Hendersonville’s #85 Myles Cannon would come up with another turnover for HHSas he would get an interception allowing the COMMANDOS to kneel on the ball up 45-0.

Hendersonville (8-1) will have senior night next Friday nightat Memorial Stadium.  The senior nightwill take place before kickoff against the Hunters Lane Warriors (1-8).  Kickoff is scheduled for 7:00.
