ROAD VICTORY MAKES HHS 1-0 TO START 2016
Friday, August 19, 2016

The COMMANDOS get a 31-7 win at McGavock to begin their 2016 campaign.  HHS was led by #3 Anthony Hughes who scored 2 touchdowns while rushing for 174 yards, and #51 Brandon Butler who had 2 sacks and 1 fumble recovery.  Three McGavock turnovers would lead to 17 points for the COMMANDOS in the 1st quarter giving HHS a 24-0 lead that they would take into halftime.  Hendersonville would score 1st in the 2nd half to extend their lead to 31-0 before giving up a touchdown making the final score 31-7.

The game would not start well for HHS as they would get the ball first and throw an interception on the 3rd play of the game.  The turnover would set the Raiders up at the COMMANDO 34 yard line.  Hendersonville would respond pushing MHS back 2 yards en route to a 3 and out.  After the punt, Hughes would get the COMMANDO offense going as they moved down the field.  #24 Reggie Harris would score the first points of the season for Hendersonville as he found the endzone with a 14 yard run.  #38 Jacob Harris’s extra point would make the score 7-0.  On the ensuing kickoff, #20 Nate Hancock would force a fumble that Butler would pounce on giving Hendersonville the ball at 5 yard line.  On this drive, HHS would be forced to settle for a 23 yard field goal that Jacob Harris would connect on making the score 10-0.  After giving up a first down on the next Raider possession, #82 Austin Halas would force a fumble that #36 Michael King would recover to set HHS up with great field position again.  The COMMANDOS would take advantage here with Hughes scoring on a 10 yard run after Reggie Harris converted a 3rd down.  McGavock would get a drive started on their next series before Butler came up with his first sack of the night.  After the sack, Reggie Harris would recover a MHS fumble.  Hughes would get the ball on the first play following the turnover and find the endzone again with a 27 yard run on the last play of the 1st quarter to put Hendersonville up 24-0.

The 2nd quarter would be uneventful with both teams trading punts.  Hendersonville would get the ball into McGavock territory late in the 2nd quarter, but a 51 yard field goal as the first half expired would come up short keeping the score at 24-0 as the teams broke for halftime.

The COMMANDO defense would force a 3 and out to begin the 2nd half helped by Butler’s 2nd sack, and the offense would move the ball nicely with runs by Reggie Harris and #32 Derek Kincaid.  This drive would end with Kincaid scoring a 2 yard run to put HHS up 31-0.  The Raiders would have back to back good runs as they moved the ball into HHS territory before being forced to punt.  The teams would again trade punts before the 3rd quarter ended.

Hendersonville would punt early in the 4th quarter and a good return by the Raiders would set them up inside the HHS 20 yard line.  Two plays later the Raiders would find the endzone.  After a COMMANDO 3 and out.  McGavock would get good field position again, this time the defense would force a field goal attempt that the Raiders couldn’t get kicked due to a bad snap.  HHS would go 3 and out again, and the game would end on the next McGavock offensive series as HHS claimed a 31-7 victory.

Hendersonville (1-0) will have their first home game of the season next week as the Siegel Stars (0-1) will visit Memorial Stadium.  Kickoff is set for 7:00.
