HHS WINS IN MEMORIAL
Friday, August 26, 2016

Hendersonville came out and looked strong in the 1st quarter taking a 14-0 lead while outgaining Siegel 152 yards to 7.  The Stars would battle back in the 2nd quarter with a couple of field goals to pull within a score going into halftime.  After each team added field goals in the 2nd half, the COMMANDOS would find the endzone two more times in the fourth quarter to claim a 31-9 victory.

HHS would kickoff to start the game, and the Black & Gold defense would force a 3 & out helped by a QB pressure put on from #55 Emmitt Richardson.  The offense would not waste any time, gaining a 1st down with a run by #3 Anthony Hughes before #6 Brett Coker would throw the team’s first passing TD of 2016 with a 24 strike to Hughes.  After #38 Jacob Harris’s PAT, Hendersonville would take an early 7-0 lead.  Hendersonville’s defense would force another 3 & out.  On this possession, #24 Reggie Harris would get the chains moving then Coker would connect with Hughes for a first down.  The promising drive would end with no points as Siegel would get a stop on a 4th down try by the COMMANDOS.  After another Siegel punt, #7 Weston Schwerdt would pick a first down on a run before a catch by #32 Derek Kincaid would get the ball deep into Star territory.  Coker would throw another TD pass to cap this drive off as he found #81 Jordan Amis for a 6 yard touchdown pass near the end of the quarter.

Siegel would get the ensuing possession moving with a 1st down run to start the 2nd quarter, after two more first downs, the Stars would be inside the red zone.  Schwerdt would break up a pass before Reggie Harris came up with a stop on 3rd down, helping HHS hold the Stars to a field goal that would be good from 35 yards.  Hendersonville would punt after three plays, and so would Siegel.  HHS would gain a first down after the punts, but then would be forced to punt again.  A bad snap on this punt would give Siegel the ball at Hendersonville’s 17 yard line.  The COMMANDOS would push the Stars backward on this possession forcing a 42 yard field goal that would be good making the score 14-6.  With time running down in the half, HHS would get the ball to midfield before being forced to punt.  The punt would be downed by #14 Dyilin Hoosier, and Siegel would run one play before halftime.

Good runs by Hughes and Harris would get the COMMANDOS moving to start the 2nd half before a fumble on 3rd down would force them to punt, ending a promising drive.  HHS would get a three and out on Siegel’s first 2nd half possession helped out with a pass knocked down by Richardson and a tackle for loss by #54 Daly Cull on 3rd down.  Runs by Coker, Hughes, and Harris on the next offensive series would help HHS get a 25 yard field goal, made by Jacob Harris, to extend their lead to 11 points.  The Stars would respond with a couple of first downs before a pass interference penalty would give SHS another 1st down inside the 20 yard line.  A tackle by #82 Austin Halas followed up with a tackle for no gain by #62 Bryan Strahm would hold them to another field goal try.

The 4th quarter would start with the Stars connecting on their 3rd field goal of the night making the score 17-9.  Hughes would help the HHS offense get their next drive going before Schwerdt would have a big run to move the ball inside the 20.  #43 Luke Carver would rush the ball closer to the goaline before Reggie Harris would put it in the endzone.  Good kickoff coverage would force the Stars to begin their next possession at their own 14 yard line, and HHS would force a punt after 3 plays.  On the next offensive series, Carver would convert a 3rd down followed by a 1st down run by Hughes.  #15 Dalton Jones would score this TD for the COMMANDOS with a 1 yard run to make the score 31-9.  On the next possession, a strip sack by #61 Zach Rockom with #78 Andrew Waters recovering loose ball would give HHS possession.  After turning the ball over on downs, the Stars would only have time for 2 plays before the clock read all zeros.

Hendersonville (2-0) will be back on the road next week as they travel to Cane Ridge (2-0) to take on the Ravens.  The game will be broadcast live as the Friday Night Rival – My30 Sports game of the week, and kickoff is scheduled for 7:00.
