UNDEFEATED IN MEMORIAL
Friday, October 21, 2016

Hendersonville got off to a fast start and played well on senior night to finish the 2016 season with a perfect 5-0 record at Memorial Stadium.  The COMMANDOS would score 42 points in the first quarter while holding Glencliff scoreless.  HHS would then add one more touchdown in each of the next three quarters in the 63-8 victory to improve their record to 6-3.

Hendersonville would kickoff to start the game.  On the first play from scrimmage, #22 Caleb Thorton would tip a Glencliff pass and #18 Austin White would be there to get an interception.  The take away would give the COMMANDOS the ball just 24 yards away from the endzone.  Runs by #6 Brett Coker and #3 Anthony Hughes would set up a 1st and goal at the 1 yard line.  #7 Weston Schwerdt would go in for the score with a 1 yard run for the first points of the night.  The Black & Gold defense would force a Colt punt after three plays on the next possession.  This Hendersonville drive would only be one play as Coker found Hughes for a 31 yard pass TD to put HHS up 14-0.  On the first play of the ensuing Glencliff possession, Schwerdt would grab the COMMANDOS 2nd interception.  After Schwerdt got the interception, he would pitch it to Coker who would race 55 yards for a defensive touchdown putting HHS up 21-0.  Hendersonville would force another 3 & out helped by a tackle for loss by #61 Zach Rockum.  HHS would then have another 1 play drive as Schwerdt would score his 2nd rushing TD of the night with a 23 yard run.  The Colts would be forced to a 3 & out again giving HHS the ball back.  After a 1st down run by #24 Reggie Harris, #16 Justin Ernst would connect with #84 Schuyler Robinson for a 35 yard pass TD as HHS extended their lead to 35-0.  #64 Lane Smith would help the COMMANDO defense force a three and out on the next series with a 3rd down stop.  After two offensive snaps, HHS would be facing a 3rd and long.  Coker would pass to #81 Jordan Amis and he would gallop to the endzone on the 49 yard scoring play as Hendersonville made the score 42-0.

Glencliff would be facing a 3rd down to start the 2nd quarter and they were able to convert.  A Hendersonville penalty would give the Colts another 1st down before GHS would convert a 4th down and set up a 1st and goal.  The COMMANDO defense would hold strong as Schwerdt would get a stop on 4th down short of the goaline to keep the Colts off the scoreboard.  HHS would go 3 & out following the goaline stand as they would call on #35 Jonathan Lisbona to punt from his own endzone.  HHS would get the Colts to 4th down following the punt.  #25 Eric Tilson would get Hendersonville’s 3rd interception of the night and return it 32 yards to set HHS up in Colt territory.  Runs by #30 Griffin McAuley would get this possession going.  #31 Tyler Dang would add a rush and McAuley would run again as HHS would get the ball inside the 10 yard line.  McAuley would score this touchdown with a 5 yard run, and the kickoff would be the final play of the 1st half as they teams broke with Hendersonville up 49-0.

#29 Jacob Eicher would have a big kickoff return for the COMMANDOS to start the 2nd half as HHS would start with the ball at the 27 yard line.  Tilson would rush the ball inside the 10, and Dang would find the endzone with an 8 yard run.  Glencliff would get things going offensively on their next possession completing two long passes before scoring with a 3 yard run.  They would add the 2 point conversion with another run to make the score 56-8.  #17 Damion Chandler would have a 1st down run for HHS as the 3rd quarter came to a close.

A nice run by #20 Nate Hancock would move the ball into Glencliff territory, but this COMMANDO drive would end with a turnover as HHS would fumble.  Hendersonville would force the Colts to a 3 & out.  Hancock would have another good run to start the next possession for HHS then #37 Desmond Thornton would have a good run as he picked up another 1st down.  Chandler would end this drive and the scoring for the night with a 16 yard touchdown run.  The Colts would run 4 plays on the ensuing possession before the clock hit all zeros as HHS got the win 63-8.

Hendersonville (6-3) will be on the road next Friday as the regular season comes to an end.  The COMMANDOS will travel to Hunters Lane (1-8) to take on the Warriors.  Kickoff at Warrior Stadium is set for 7:00 next Friday night.
