JV COMES UP SHORT IN FINAL GAME
Monday, October 16, 2017

The JV team concluded their 2017 season with a loss at Mt. Juliet.  The COMMANDOS competed hard, but gave up too many big plays in the loss.

HHS would get the ball to start the game, and 1st down runs by Logan Spurrier and Drew Hohenbrink would help the COMMANDOS move the ball.  A reception by Spurrier would set HHS up with 1st and goal, and Hohenbrink would get into the endzone with a 1 yard TD run.  Erick Morales would add the PAT to give Hendersonville a 7-0 lead.  The 7 point advantage wouldn’t last long as Mt. Juliet would score on their 1st offensive snap with a 50 yard TD pass to tie the game at 7.  HHS would go three and out on the next possession and then force a turnover on downs to get the ball back.  A nice catch by Morales would get a 1st down for the COMMANDOS, but they would eventually turn the ball back over on downs.  The Golden Bears would run the ball for a couple of 1st downs before scoring with a 2 yard run to take the lead 7-14.  Hendersonville would answer with a 55 yard TD reception as Hohenbrink found Morales to tie the game back up.  A big play by MJHS would get them in scoring range, and they would connect on a field goal with 8 seconds left in the 1st half.

The Golden Bears would start the 2nd half just as they did the 1st half with a TD on their first offensive snap to go up 14-24.  The COMMANDOS would answer as Jordan Alford would have 30 yard TD run after Jacob Newton caught a pass to help the drive.  HHS would miss the PAT making the score 20-24.  The teams would trade punts a couple of times before the Mt. Juliet extended their lead with an 80 yard TD run.  Down by 11 points, HHS would get a drive going, and Morales would catch a 30 yard touchdown pass.  A two point try would fail making the score 26-31.  The Golden Bears would recover an onside kick and were able to run the clock out.
