Station Camp won the toss and elected to receive the opening kickoff.  The Black & Gold defense came ready to play and forced a 3 & out on the games’ opening series.  #4 Nigel Jones would get a good return on the punt giving HHS the ball at the Station Camp 45 yard line.  #34 Whit Gray would get a 28 yard run on the COMMANDOS first offensive play.  A few plays later #20 David Priddy would run the ball into the endzone from 5 yards out, and after Bowerman added the PAT, HHS would take an early 7-0 lead.  On the ensuing possession, the Bison would convert on 2 straight 3rd downs before #80 Troy Dye would come up with a sack and #69 Cayman Russell would add another sack on 3rd down forcing the Bison to punt again.  The COMMANDOS would be held to a 3 and out.

On the first play of the 2nd Quarter, SCHS would get their first score on a 61 yard TD pass.  The Bison would miss the extra point keeping HHS in the lead 7-6.  The COMMANDOS would have a big mistake on the 2nd play of their next drive as #8 Hunter Brown would throw an interception giving Station Camp the ball around midfield.  The COMMANDO defense would not allow the Bison to get much after the turnover forcing a punt after 3 plays.  Jones would take the punt back 68 yards for a score, but that TD would be called back by penalty.  HHS would be able to get points off the possession as they would drive the ball into Bison territory before Bowerman would connect on a 39 yard field goal putting the COMMANDOS up 10-6.  Station Camp would be forced to go 3 and out.  Hendersonville would get another drive going with #33 Chris Moore picking up a big 3rd down conversion and Brown picking up a 4th down conversion.  Then with less than 1 minute left in the half, Howell would find Jones for a 28 yard TD pass.  Troy Dye would get his second sack of the night on the last play of the half sending HHS to the locker room with a 17-6 lead.

Getting the ball to start the second half, the COMMANDOS would waste little time putting more points on the score board.  5 plays into the drive, Brown would throw a 48 yard TD pass to Howell.  The Bison would look to answer as they drove the ball into COMMANDO territory before Gray would intercept a pass.  HHS did not capitalize as they would end up missing a 48 yard field goal attempt.  On the next offensive play for Station Camp, #57 Joe Townsend would force a fumble that Jones would pounce on, and HHS would take advantage of this turnover with Howell throwing his second TD pass of the night, this one a 20 yarder that #81 Chad Dye made a great catch on.  Bowerman’s extra point would make the score 31-6.  #45 Austin Lamb would come up with the COMMANDOS third straight take away as he intercepted a Bison pass on their first play after the kickoff.

HHS was able to pick up one 1st down before being forced to punt.  The Bison would go 55 yards on their next drive ending with a 10 yard TD run, and the two point conversion would give SCHS 14 points.  The Bison Defense would shut down HHS again quickly forcing a 3 & out.  The Bison would then go 82 yards in just 6 plays scoring another touchdown and converting on another 2 point conversion making the score 31-22.  After the Bison kicked off, Brown was able to take a knee running the last seconds off the clock improving the COMMANDOS record to 5-2 with the 9 point win at Station Camp.

Hendersonville (5-2) will host District 9-AAA opponent Portland (0-7) next Firday night at Memorial Stadium.  Kickoff for the game against the Panthers is scheduled for 7:00 pm.

The JV team will play Monday at home against Station Camp at 5:00, and the Freshman team will wrap up their season on Thursday as they travel to Portland with a kickoff at 6:30.
