Behind 4 rushing touchdowns by #3 LaDontez Bryant, the COMMANDOS put up 55 points onSpringfield to move on the 2nd Round of TSSAA 5A playoffs.  Bryant rushed for 160 yards on the night, and#20 David Priddy added 188 rushing yards and 1 TD.  Springfield scored early in the 2ndQuarter to make the score 14-13 before HHS scored 41 unanswered points en routeto the 55-20 victory.

Hendersonville received the opening kickoff, and Priddy busted a56 yard run on the COMMANDOS firstoffensive snap.  A late hit penalty onthe Yellow Jackets would set up a 1st and goal at the 7 yard line,and Bryant would rush for his first score on the next play.  #38 Shawn Bowerman would add the point afterto give HHS the early 7-0 lead.  TheJackets would answer the score quickly getting a 56 yard pass play on their 2ndoffensive play.  Deep inside their ownterritory, the Black & Gold defense would hold SHS to a 4thdown, but the Jacket quarterback would walk into the endzone with a 17 yard runto tie the game at 7 apiece.  Hendersonvillewould gain 1 first down on their next possession before being forced topunt.  The Yellow Jackets would driveinto HHS territory again after the change of possession before the COMMANDOS would hold them to another 4thdown attempt.  The defense would get thestop on this 4th down try as #7 Jarrod Reyes would get the first hiton a tackle for loss before a gang of COMMANDOSwould make sure the Springfield running back lost yards giving the ball back toHHS with a turnover on downs.  Bryantwould pick up a 3rd down conversion on the following drive, and then#27 Andrew Pate would give HHS the lead that they would not give up again as hescored on a 35 yard run making the score 14-7.

The Yellow Jackets would answer again driving the ball 80 yards on10 plays before scoring with a 1 yard run. They would miss the PAT keeping the COMMANDOSin front by 1 point, 14-13.  It wouldonly take Hendersonville 1 play to score their next TD as Priddy would go 76yards putting HHS up 21-13.  The COMMANDO defense would force a 3 andout on the ensuing Springfield drive, making the Yellow Jackets punt for thefirst time.  Bryant’s 7 yard TD run wouldcap a 10 play 60 yard drive for the COMMANDOSputting HHS up by 2 scores.  Springfieldwould get 1 first down before #2 Ryan Patrick would get a tackle for loss on a3rd down pass that would force the Jackets to punt again.  #5 Jarrell Adams would get a good return onthe punt setting the COMMANDOS upinside the redzone.  #8 Hunter Brownwould find #81 Chad Dye for a 7 yard touchdown reception and after Bowerman’sextra point HHS would be up 35-13 late in the first half.  Patrick would make another great defensiveplay on the ensuing Springfield possession coming up with an interception onthe first play.  HHS would get one snap onoffense before the teams would head to their locker rooms for halftime.

Springfield got the ball to start the 2nd half, andthey would be forced to punt after picking up back to back 1stdowns.  Hendersonville would have to puntthemselves after the COMMANDOSpicked up 1 first down.  SHS would turnthe ball over on downs as #45 Austin Lamb would defend a 4th downpass attempt.  Getting the ball at theSpringfield 39 yard line, Bryant would score on the 1st offensiveplay however the PAT would be no good after a bad snap making the score41-13.  After the kickoff, Dye would geta tackle for loss on the Jackets first play as the defense would force a 3 andout.  After the punt, Bryant would scorehis 4th TD of the night, this one coming from 27 yards out.

The ensuing kickoff would be the first play of the 4thquarter, and HHS would force the Yellow Jackets backwards as they would puntafter 3 plays.  The COMMANDOS would get the ball at the plus 33 yard line after thepunt, and #34 Corey Jones would cover the 33 yards in 2 carries scoring arushing touchdown.  Springfield would goon a 6 play scoring drive for the last score of the night. Up 55-20,Hendersonville would recover the onside kick attempt, but was unable to run outthe clock as HHS turned the ball over on downs after not being able to pick upa first down.  Springfield would have 3more snaps, but it was 3 incompletions before the clock had all zeros as HHSwould claim the victory 55-20.

Hendersonville (7-4) will goback to the Waveyard next week as they will have another matchup with theGallatin Green Wave (10-1) in the 2nd Round the TSSAA 5A playoffs.  Kickoff will be at 7:00.
