COMMANDOS GET DISTRICT WIN OVER BISON
Friday, August 17, 2012

HHS comes out on top by 8 in hard fought rivalry game againstStation Camp.  After a defensive struggle throughout the first quarter that saw neither team able to move the ball very well, HHS was able to take a 10-0 lead into the half.  The Bison would score the only points of the 3rd quarter to cut the lead to 4, but the COMMANDOS would find the endzone in the 4th quarter and hold SCHS to only a field goal as HHS was able to claim the victory 17-9 at Bison field.

HHS would kickoff to start the game, and a good kick by #24 Bryce DeGuira coupled with good coverage would put Station Camp at their own 17 yard line to start the 2012 season.  HHS would look good on the first 2 plays setting up a 3rd and long situation, but the Bison would convert for a first down on a pass play.  #21 Anthony Tate would get a sack on the next 3rd down play; an incompletion on a 4th down attempt by the Bison would give HHS the ball for the first time at the SCHS 41 yard line.  A good run by #35 Believe Kabasu on the 1st play would be negated by a penalty, then on the replayed 1st down, HHS would fumble giving Station Camp the ball around midfield.  The COMMANDO defense would come up with another 4th down stop after giving up 1 first down; the 4th down play would be stopped short as #32 Drew Davis would combine with Kabasu on the tackle. HHS would not look good on offense as they were forced to a 3 and out following the turnover on downs.  SCHS would return the punt after #55 Ryan Ward would get a sack on 3rd down.  QB #2 Jeremias Elston would come up with back to back 1st down runs on the next possession moving the ball deep into Station Camp territory as the 1st quarter would come to an end.

#48 Colt Cupit would convert a 4th and 1 as the second quarter began to set up the COMMANDOS with a 1st and goal.  The COMMANDOS would eventually be forced to call on DeGuira and he connected on a 37 yard field goal for the first points of the 2012 season giving HHS a 3-0 lead.  A big kickoff return by the Bison would set up their drive at the HHS 46 yard line.  SCHS would drive the ball to the 16 yard line before being forced to settle for a 33 yard field goal that would go wide left leaving the score at 3-0. The COMMANDOS would get the ball at their own 20.  Before the first snap of the next drive, a power outage would delay the game for about 20minutes.  As play resumed, #27 Andrew Pate would have a big run during a 9 play scoring drive that would be cappedwith a 19 yard TD run by #3 Cameron Turner. After the PAT, HHS would be up 10-0 with 33 seconds left in the firsthalf.  Station Camp would run 1 offensive play before the teams would break for halftime.

#43 Justin Orr would get a good kickoff return to start the 2nd half, but a penalty would make the drive start at the COMMANDO 9 yard line.  HHSwould go 3 and out, and after a bad punt, the Bison would get the ball at the HHS 31 yard line.  Station Camp would score after 7 plays on a QB sneak from 1 yard out.  A bad snap on the PAT would keep the COMMANDO lead at 4 points, 10-6.  Offsides by the Bison on the kickoff followed by a kick out of bounds would give HHS the ball at the 40 yard line.  HHS would pick up 1 1st down on ahard run by Kabasu before being forced to punt. Ward would come up with a tackle for loss on the Bison 3rd down play forcing them to punt the ball back to HHS.  Orr would get a good return on the punt, giving HHS the ball 32 yards away from the endzone.  The last play of the 3rd quarter would see Turner pick up a first down for the COMMANDOS.

#81 Chad Dye would get a big catch from Elston early in the 4th quarter.  Pate would end the drive with a 5 yard TD run to extend the lead to 17-6. Station Camp would get a drive going on the ensuing possession.  After getting deep into COMMANDO territory, a pass interference call against the COMMANDOS on failed 4th down attempt would keep the drive alive.  TheHHS defense would hold the Bison to a 30 yard field goal which cut the lead to 8 points.  On the COMMANDOS next drive, 2 penalties would force a punt on 4th and 14 after 3 plays.  The Bison would have the ball at midfield with just over 2 minutes left in the game, but Tate would come up with a fumble recovery after SCHS fumbled a center-QB exchange.  HHS would get 1 1st down as they were able to run out the clock taking the 8 point victory.
