COMMANDOS WIN HOMECOMING
Friday, September 14, 2012

The COMMANDOS capture a 15 point victory in homecoming game over the Portland Panthers. The win improved the COMMANDOS record to 3-2 for the season.  Hendersonville was led by #27 Andrew Pate’s 118 yard rushing performance.  With the 118 rushing yards, he had 1 rushingTD and had 1 receiving TD with his 18 receiving yards.  #3 Cameron Turner added 94 rushing yards and 1 touchdown, while #2 Jeremias Elston went 8 of 9 in the air for 75 yards and 1 TD.  The defense held the Panthers to just four 1st downs on the night, but did allow touchdown runs of 88 yards and 74 yards.

Hendersonville would receive the opening kickoff.  #11 Jackson Duke would make a catch for a 1st down, but the COMMANDOS would only snap the ball 3 more times before being forced to punt. The HHS defense would get the ball right back forcing a 3 and out.  Turner would have a big run on the 1st play of the next offensive series, and Duke would catch another pass for a 1st down.  The COMMANDOS would eventually get a 1st and goal situation.  It would take HHS 4 plays, but #35 BelieveKabasu would eventually score from 1 yard out. #24 Bryce DeGuira would add the PAT to put HHS up 7-0.  On the ensuing drive, the Panthers would pickup their first 1st down of the game, but #52 Brandon West would combine with #32 Drew Davis for a sack on the last play of the quarter.

The Panthers would be facing a 3rd and long on the 1st play of the 2nd quarter, and #78 Brandon Bourk would have a big sack that would force a PHS punt.  Hendersonville’s next drive would start inside Panther territory at the 46 yard line.  #81 Chad Dye would get a catch followed by along run by Turner to set up 1st and goal.  Turner would finish the drive with a 4 yardTD run to put the COMMANDOS up14-0.  The Panthers would get a couple of1st downs on their next drive, before #19 Braden Schwerdt would endthe Panther drive by coming up with an interception to give HHS the ball back.  The COMMANDOS could not capitalize off the turnover going only 3 yards on 3 plays before punting the ball. Portland would go 3 & out as well. Hendersonville would move the ball across midfield on their last possession of the half, but would come up empty after missing a 51 yard fieldgoal as time expired.

Portland got the ball to start the 2nd half, and it would only take them 2 plays to cut into their deficit as they would score on an 88 yard run on the 2nd play of the half.  The PAT would be no good, making the score 14-6.  It would only take the COMMANDOS 3 plays toanswer, as Pate would go for a 71 yard score to put HHS back up by 2 scores.  Hendersonville would force a 3 & out on the ensuing possession with #54 Trevor Conner breaking up a 3rd down pass attempt.  Following the Panther punt, after a 1st down catch by Dye on the 1st play of the drive, Pate would go for 57 yard that would be his 2nd rushing TD of the night; however a personal foul by the COMMANDOS would nullify the score. HHS would continue their drive, and Pate would eventually score on an 11 yard pass from Elston for the last score of the night for Hendersonville.  After the kickoff by DeGuira, PHS would pickup one 1st down.

The first play of the 4th quarter would be a 4th down attempt by Portland.  A bad snap would help HHS getthe stop giving the COMMANDOS the ball around midfield.  A pass interference call would help keep the next HHS drive going, but the possession would produce no points as a 31 yard field goal would sail wide right.  #58 Taylor Felice would get a sack on third down of the next offensive series for Portland, he was assisted by Conner and Davis, and the Panthers would punt.  HHS would go 3 & out and return the ball to PHS.  Portland would get a 74 yard TD on the ground on the 2nd play of their possession to make the score 28-13 with 22 seconds left in the game.  Hendersonville was able to take a knee after the kickoff to run out the clock.

Hendersonville (3-2) will play their last non-district game next week as they will travel to Tomahawk Stadium in Murfreesboro to take on the Riverdale Warriros (4-1).  Kickoff at Tomahawk Stadium will be at 7:00.
