Hendersonville received the opening kickoff and was quickly forced to punt after 3 offensive snaps. Riverdale would have the ball around midfield following their punt return, and the Warriors would rip off a 49 yard run on their 1st offensive play to give them the ball with a 1st & goal at the 8 yard line.  After 2 solid stops, HHS would allow the QB to keep the ball on a run for a 7 yard TD run on 3rd down to put RHS up by 7 early.  On the ensuing possession, the COMMANDOS would get the ball moving as #3 Cameron Turner would get the ball to midfield with a reception and Kabasu would have a big 3rd down run.  The COMMANDOS would get the ball all the way to the 10 yard line, but a sack would force HHS to settle for a 40 yard FG.  #24 Bryce DeGuira would be good on the field goal to make the score 3-7.  A big return on the kickoff would giveRiverdale the ball at the COMMANDO 32 yard line.  After giving up a firstdown, #78 Brandon Bourk would get a sack on 3rd down on the last play of the 1st quarter to set up 4th and 16.

An incompletion on 4th down would give Hendersonville the ball back.  The teams would trade punts after 3 plays each, and the COMMANDOS would have another 3 & out on offense to give Riverdale the ball back.  The Warriors would get the ball moving picking up 4 first downs as they moved down the field, but a 2nd down sack by #52 Brandon West followed by heavy pressure by #55 Ryan Ward on 3rd down would make Riverdale settle for a field goal.  They would miss their 40 yard attempt leaving the score at 3-7.  Hendersonville would only have time to run 3 offensive plays before the teams broke for halftime.

HHS would have to kickoff to start the 2nd half, and the defense would be ready forcing a 3 & out.  Hendersonville would pick up 3 1st downs before punting from midfield.  The Warriors would gain one 1st down and then hit a 61 yard TD pass to go up 3-14.  Hendersonville would get a drive going on their next possession with a hard run by #34 Corey Jones for a first down, and a catch by #11 Jackson Duke for a first down.

Kabasu would have a tough run, and Jones would make a reception for a first down during the 16 play scoring drive that would be capped off with a 1 yard TD run by Tate.  Down by 5 points, the COMMANDOS would try a 2 point conversion that would fail leaving the score 9-14.  HHS would pin the Warriors at their own 17 yard line on the ensuing kickoff, but it would only take the Warriors 3 plays to answer the score.  RHS would score ona 77 yard TD run after HHS held strong on 1st & 2nd down.  The PAT would be no good leaving the COMMANDOS down 11 points.  #80 Tucker Been would make a catch on the 1st play of Hendersonville’s next drive to get the ball to midfield, and 3 plays later, #23 Bailey Rogers would make a catch to give HHS the ball at the 1 yard line.  Tate would score on the following play, but HHS would miss the 2 point conversion again to make the score 15-20.  Riverdale would return the kickoff to the COMMANDO 48 yard line.  After 4 snaps the COMMANDO defense would keep the Warriors short of the 1st down by inches to give HHS the ball back. Hendersonville would move the ball down the field as Turner would make a first down reception, #2 Jeremias Elston would run for a 1st down, and Jones would run for a 1st down. A pass interference call would give the COMMANDOS the ball at the 4 yard line with a first down, and Kabasu would score the game winning TD.  Tate added the 2 point conversion to give Hendersonville a 3 point lead with 22 seconds left in the game.  The Warriors would only have time to get 2 plays off with Schwerdt getting the interception on the 2nd play to end the game.

Hendersonville (4-2) returns to District play next week as they travel to Beech (6-0) to take on the Buccaneers.  Kickoff at Shackle Island Stadium will be at 7:00.

The JV (1-1) team will travel to Portland on Monday to make up the rained out game from last week.  The game versus the JV Panthers is scheduled to begin at 6:00.  The Freshman COMMANDOS (6-0) will host Beech this Thursday at Memorial Stadium; kickoff will be at 6:30.
