SEASON ENDS AT LEBANON
Friday, October 26, 2012

The COMMANDOS 2012 season came to end at Lebanon with a 6 point loss to the Blue Devils.  Turnovers, penalties, and a big play would lead to the downfall of the COMMANDOS.  Hendersonville would have 4 turnovers including back to back fumbles on the 1st two possessions of the game and 95 penalty yards in the loss.  HHS would force 9 straight 3 & outs and limit the Blue Devils to under 100 total yards for the game, but after a roughing the passer penalty, the COMMANDOS would give up a 61 yard TD run that would turn out to be the deciding score.

The game started with HHS receiving the football, on the first offensive snap the COMMANDOS would turn the ball over giving Lebanon the ball to the COMMANDO 46 yard line.  The Blue Devils would take advantage of the turnover and good field position as they would score after picking up 3 first downs (2 of which came on 4th down plays).  That would be the only first downs that LHS would be able to gain all night on the COMMANDOS, but would be enough to give them an early 7 point advantage.  HHS would look to answer the score driving into scoring territory before fumbling the ball away again.  Hendersonville would force a 3 & out after this turnover.  Getting the ball with good field position, HHS would go nowhere as they would only pick up 6 yards on 4 plays giving LHS the ball back.  Lebanon could not do anything with the ball on this possession as they would punt after 3 plays.  On the last play of the 1st Quarter, #12 Jack Peters would block the LHS punt.

Hendersonville would start the 2nd Quarter with the ball at the Blue Devil 34 yard line, but HHS could not take advantage going 1 yard in 3 plays before missing a 50 yard field goal to keep the score at 0-7.  Gang tackles by the Black & Gold defense on 1st & 2nd down followed by a bad snap on 3rd down would set up 4th and 28 from their own 2.  After the punt, HHS would have the ball at the LHS 27 yard line.  This time, the COMMANDOS would go backwards 8 yards after fumbling a snap on 1st down, and then having back to back offside’s penalties.  HHS would be forced to attempt another long field goal; this 52 yarder would hit the crossbar to be no good.  LHS would again punt after 3 plays.  Following the punt, the COMMANDOS would start their 3rd straight drive inside Lebanon territory.  HHS would pick up a 1st down and then convert on a 4th down before throwing an interception in the endzone.  The Blue Devils would take a knee to go into the locker room up 0-7.

After kicking off to start the second half, the COMMANDO defense would continue to play well as they would force a punt after 3 plays with #21 Anthony Tate coming up with a sack on 3rd down.  On the ensuing drive, QB #2 Jeremias Elston would convert a 3rd down with a run, and then a catch by #81 Chad Dye would put the ball inside the 1 yard line.  2 plays later, Elston would run in for the score making the score 7-7.  Following the kickoff, the defense would again force Lebanon to punt after only 3 plays as #52 Brandon West would get a sack.  On the punt, the COMMANDOS would get flagged for roughing the punter which would give LHS a fresh set of downs.  One play is all it would take to break the tie as the Blue Devils would run for a 61 yard TD.  Dye would block the PAT to make the score 7-13 in the 3rd Quarter.

Hendersonville’s next drive would be 11 plays and get as close as the 5 yard line, but end up with no points as HHS would throw an interception on a fake field goal attempt.  After the turnover, Lebanon would be forced to a 3 & out.  With time running down, Hendersonville would convert a 4th down to keep their drive going as #35 Believe Kabasu would make a good run, but a dropped pass on the next 4th down situation would give the ball back to LHS.  The defense would force a punt after 3 more plays, but HHS would again be flagged for roughing the punter.  After the penalty was marked off, the Blue Devils were able to run the clock out.

This was the end of the COMMANDOS 2012 season as they will finish with a 4-6 record after the loss and will not make the playoffs this season.
