#6 Jarcques Wordlaw got the game started in a big way for Hendersonville, receiving the opening kickoff and returning it to Panther territory.  After the good return, it would only take HHS 2 plays to put points on the board.  #10 Jack Towe would get a good run on the first offensive play before Turner would score his first TD with a 28 yard run.  #24 Bryce DeGuira would add the extra point to make the score 7-0.  The defense would be ready to play as well forcing a three and out after DeGuira’s kickoff sailed through the endzone.  #36 Jon Reed would get a tackle for loss followed by another tackle for loss by #37 Sam Pate.  After the punt, Hendersonville would have the ball in PHS territory again.  Towe and Turner would move the ball for the COMMANDOS again, and Turner would score again, this time with a 7 yard run.  Reed would have a big play on special teams making a tackle at the 10 yard line.  #67 Alan Ogburn would get a tackle for loss on this series, but a 4th down conversion would give PHS a first down.  After the 1st down, the COMMANDO defense would step up and force a punt.  Wordlaw would get the Hendersonville offense moving on this drive with three good runs as the 1st quarter came to a close.

Towe would find the endzone on this series with a 1 yard run capping an 11 play 90 yard drive that made the score 21-0.  On the ensuing possession, Portland would get a big run that got the ball inside HHS territory.  Ogburn and #93 Preston Brown would each tackle the Panthers for loss yardage as the COMMANDOS pushed Portland back and forced another punt.  #20 Terrell Carter would return the punt 49 yards giving HHS the ball at the 50 yard line.  Turner would get his third TD on this drive with a 21 yard run.  The Panthers would convert another 4th down on their next series before good defensive plays by #54 Daly Cull and #21 Frankie Small would make PHS settle for a 46 yard field goal attempt.  #8 Drew Richard would block the field goal try and Towe would return the blocked kick to the plus 30 yard line.  It would only take HHS one play to find the endzone here as Turner would score his 4th touchdown of the game with 17 seconds left in the first half.  Portland would only have time to run one play before the teams headed to the locker rooms for halftime.

Portland got the ball to start the 2nd half, and would punt after picking up one first down.  #2 Jeremias Elston would convert a 4th down with a run for HHS, then Towe and #4 Mike Harris would have first down runs before #31 Shane Watrous scored with a 7 yard run.  The PAT would get blocked making the score 41-0.

Portland would gain a couple of first downs on their next possession as they moved the ball down the field and eventually scored with a 19 yard run.  PHS would covert a 2 point play to make the score 41-8.  After an onside kick attempt, HHS would have the ball inside Portland territory.  Mike Harris would score on this drive with a 35 yard run and #38 Jacob Harris would hit the extra point to put HHS 48-8.  #59 Mark King would combine with #91 Bryan Strahm for a tackle for loss on the ensuing PHS possession, and #17 Drew Ferguson would come up with a sack on the game’s final play.

Hendersonville (6-1) returns home to Memorial Stadium next week to face off against the Mt. Juliet Golden Bears (4-3).  Sumner County schools will be on fall break all week, but the football team will still be in action with kickoff on Paul Decker field set for 7:00.
