What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Being a part of a family who loves, and looks out for one another no matter what!

One of the most athletic players on the team, Luke was an all-purpose player for the COMMANDOS and had an outstanding four year playing career for HHS.  He played running back on offense, cornerback on defense, and was a return man on Special Teams.  He was a two time ‘ALL-COUNTY’ player, being named 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ in 2016 while earning 2nd team honors in 2015.  Played significant snaps on defense and Special Teams in each of his three seasons as a member of the varsity team while most of his offensive snaps came in 2016.  Ended his career with 73 tackles, 30 pass break ups, 4 interceptions, 2 sacks, 3 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, 4 fumble recoveries, and 1 QB hurry.  As a returner, he returned 14 punts totaling 78 yards and had 12 kickoff returns for 246 yards.  Ran the ball 39 times for 208 yards scoring 6 touchdowns and caught 7 passes for 99 yards.  He was an excellent practice player as he came to work every day ready to do his best to improve, and his hard work carried over to the game field on Friday nights.  He was one of the team’s leaders and with his versatility and work ethic, he will be difficult to replace.

2016-Had a great senior season being a playmaker in all three phases of the game.  Started in the defensive secondary, at running back on offense, and on every Special Teams unit.  Was named 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as an all-purpose back for his efforts throughout the season.  On defense, he ended the season with a team high 17 pass break ups and was third on the team in tackles with 34 stops.  In addition to the 34 tackles and 17 pass break ups, he had 1 interception, 3 fumble recoveries, 1 forced fumble, and 1 QB pressure.  Led the team in tackles 3 times during the season.  Had a career high 7 tackles when he led the team in stops against both Beech and Hunters Lane; also led the team with 6 tackles versus Hillsboro.  His interception came against Hillsboro when he also had a fumble recovery.  His other fumble recoveries came in the Station Camp and Beech games.  His forced fumble was versus Cane Ridge when he also tied a career high of 4 pass break ups.  He matched the 4 pass break ups in games against Station Camp and Hunters Lane; also broke up passes against Siegel, Beech, Gallatin, and Glencliff.  His tackle for lost yardage was recorded versus Beech and his QB hurry came versus Hunters Lane.  He returned 9 kickoffs totaling 214 yards while having 8 punt returns for 43 yards.  On offense, he had 5 rushing touchdowns as he ran the ball 32 times for 184 yards; added 6 receptions for 96 yards.  His best rushing output came versus Hillsboro when he ran the ball 6 times for 45 yards including his career long rush of 26 yards while scoring 1 TD.  His other touchdowns were scored against Cane Ridge, East Nashville, Gallatin, and Hunters Lane.  Caught 2 passes versus both Siegel and Station Camp, and had 1 against Cane Ridge and Hillsboro.  His career long reception of 38 yards was in the Cane Ridge contest.

2015-Was a starter all season at cornerback on defense and also started on Special Teams.  In addition, he saw a little game action at running back on offense.  Ended the season with 27 tackles, 3 interceptions, 2 sacks, 1 tackle for loss, 1 fumble recovery, and 9 pass break ups.  Was named 2nd team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ for his performance throughout the season.  Recorded tackles in 10 of the team’s 12 games.  He had a season high of 5 tackles in the team’s 30-16 victory over Beech.  Recorded sacks against Beech as well as Cane Ridge.  Had 2 interceptions versus Gallatin and added one in the team’s 1st round playoff victory over Shelbyville.  His tackle for lost yardage came in the Beech game, and he recovered a fumble versus Glencliff.  Broke up passes in 8 different games with a season high of 2 pass break ups in the season opener versus McGavock.  On Special Teams, he returned 6 punts for 35 yards with his longest punt return of 12 yards coming in the East Nashville contest.  Had 3 kickoff returns for 32 yards with his longest return of 20 yards coming versus McGavock.  Had 2 blocked field goal attempts, one against Siegel and the other versus Cane Ridge.  On offense, he ended the season with 1 rushing attempt that was against Siegel where he rushed for 1 yard, and had 1 reception versus Shelbyville that netted 3 yards.

2014-Got into the rotation in the defensive secondary where he saw significant varsity game action.  He did a great job helping the COMMANDOS to a District 9-AAA Championship.  He also saw limited game action at running back.  Ended season with 12 tackles and 4 pass break ups on defense while rushing the ball 6 times totaling 23 yards while scoring 1 touchdown.  Recorded stops in 6 different games including a season high 5 tackles in the team’s 1st round playoff victory over Independence.  Also had tackles against Lebanon, Brentwood, Mt. Juliet, Beech, and Station Camp.  Had a season high 3 pass break ups against Brentwood and added 1 in the Station Camp game.  His rushing touchdown came on a season long rush of 9 yards and was in the Hunters Lane game.  He also ran the ball versus Wilson Central, Lebanon, and Gallatin.  Played in all of the JV games as well.

2013-Did a good job for the Freshman team helping them to an undefeated season.  Injuries forced him to miss most of the season, but he contributed in the last two games of the season.  He would have likely seen a lot of game action in all three phases of the game if he would have been healthy all season.  He wore jersey #21 for the Freshman team.
