What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Hard work and dedication to be the best that I can be.

Gabe leaves the program as one of the top receivers in school history.  For his career, he grabbed 44 catches for 888 yards with 9 touchdowns.  His 44 receptions ranks 2nd all-time in HHS football history as does his 888 yards and his 9 scores.  In addition to his offensive stats, Gabe recorded 8 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 2 interceptions, and 1 pass breakup while returning 1 kickoff for 15 yards.  He was named to the 2017 ‘ALL-REGION’ team and was 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a wide receiver in 2017.  He was voted by his teammates as the Freshman teams ‘MOST VALUABLE BACK’ during his Freshman campaign in 2014.  His 9 catches against Centennial during his senior season is the most in a game in school history.  He also owns the school record for receiving yards in a game with 236 yards in the same game.  His 7 touchdown receptions in 2017 ranks #1 in school history.  He was a big receiver that ran good routes, had great hands, was a solid blocker, and had excellent ball skills.  He was a presence on the field as a receiver for the COMMANDOS and his ability will be tough to replace next season.

2017-Had a spectacular senior season breaking multiple receiving school records.  Was named to the ‘ALL-REGION’ team as well as being named 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a wide receiver.  Ended the season with a school record 7 receiving touchdowns, 35 receptions which is 3rd all-time in HHS history, and 728 yards which ranks second all-time.  Caught at least one pass in all 11 games of the season and led the team in receptions in 7 games.  Led the team in receiving yards in 8 different contest.  His best offensive performance of the season came against Centennial when he caught a school record 9 pass for a school record 236 yards with three of those receptions going for scores.  He also topped the century mark against Franklin and Blackman with 132 yards and 123 yards.  His 132 receiving yards against Franklin ranks 4th in school history.  He led the team in receptions against Blackman, Centennial, Beech, Lebanon, Franklin, Wilson Central, and the playoff game.  Led the team in receiving yards versus Centennial, Beech, Lebanon, Franklin, Wilson Central, Gallatin, Rossview, and the playoff game.  Scored touchdowns against Blackman, Centennial, Franklin, Wilson Central, and Rossview.  His career long catch was against Franklin and was a 74 yard TD catch.  In addition to being the team’s top receiver, he also saw time in the defensive secondary where he recorded 6 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 pass breakup.  Had a career best 2 tackles versus Lebanon which included his tackle for loss.  He also recorded stops versus Blackman, Centennial, Gallatin, and Rossview.  His pass breakup was against Wilson Central.

2016-After missing time early in the season due to injury early in the season, Gabe became a starter at wide receiver and caught passes in 5 of the team’s final 6 games.  He did a great job at split end being a solid blocker as well as a receiving threat.  Ended the season with 9 receptions for 160 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Led team in receptions and receiving yards 3 times during the season.  Had a career best in both catches and yards against Hillsboro when he led the team with 3 receptions for 54 yards and 1 touchdown.  Also led the team in receptions and receiving yards against East Nashville with 3 for 52 yards and a score and Hunters Lane with 1 for 39 yards, other catches came against Station Camp and Gallatin.  His season long reception of 39 yards came in the season finale against Hunters Lane.

2015-Played on the JV team and consistently improved during the season.  He also saw varsity game on Special Teams, at split end on offense, and free safety on defense.  Ended the season with 2 tackles, 2 interceptions, and 1 kickoff return for 15 yards.  Had 1 tackle and 1 interception against both Glencliff and Hunters Lane while his kickoff return came in the Gallatin game.

2014-Gabe was a starter on both offense and defense for the Freshman team.  He started at cornerback on defense and split end on offense.  He was one of the most athletic kids on the team and made plays for the Freshman squad all season long.  He did a great job at split end as he had the capability to be a good blocker as well as a good receiver.  He ended up being the team’s leading receiver for the season.  He was voted by his teammates as the teams ‘Most Valuable Back’.
