What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Brotherhood and the willingness to succeed.

Brett was a three year starting quarterback for the COMMANDOS who is in the top 5 in the HHS all-time football record books nine times.  He was ‘ALL-COUNTY’ in each of his three varsity seasons and was named to the 2017 ‘ALL-REGION’ team as well as being voted by his teammates as a ‘TEAM CAPTAIN’ for his senior season.  He ends his career completing 163 passes on 313 attempts for 2,711 yards with 33 touchdowns passes and 8 interceptions.  He also had 108 rushing attempts for 250 yards and 10 TD’s and had 1 reception.  On the defensive side of the ball he had 11 tackles, 1 interception, and 1 defensive touchdown; and he punted the ball 3 times for a net of 104 yards.  He owns two HHS football records as his 33 TD passes for his career is the most all-time, and his 323 passing yards versus Centennial in 2017 is #1 all-time.  He is also in the top five in the record books with 14 TD passes in 2017 which is #2 for TD passes in a season, #3 in TD passes in a season with 12 in 2016, #2 with 1,231 passing yards in the regular season in 2017, #3 with 1,265 passing yards in season including playoffs during the 2017 season, and #3 all-time in career passing yards with 2,711.  In addition to having the most passing yards in a game in school history, he also owns the 4th best passing game with 252 yards versus Blackman in 2017 and 5th most with 212 yards against Cane Ridge in 2016.  He was the leader of a very explosive offense during each of his three years as the starting quarterback and his leadership and ability will be tough to replace.

2017-Had another great year from his quarterback position leading the offense to an average of 31 points per game.  He threw for 115 yards per game and did an excellent job protecting the ball throwing 14 touchdowns while only have 3 interceptions.  He was voted by his teammates as a ‘TEAM CAPTAIN’ along with teammate Blaze Foster.  He was also named ‘ALL-REGION’ and 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a quarterback for his efforts during the season.  Ended the season completing 79 passes on 144 attempts for 1,265 yards with 14 TDs and 3 interceptions.  His 1,265 passing yards is the 3rd best mark in HHS football history while his 14 TD’s ranks #2 all-time.  He also has the 2nd most passing yards in school history in the regular season with 1,231 passing yards.  Against Centennial, he passed for a school record 323 yards and his 252 yards against Blackman ranks 4th in school history.  He threw touchdown passes in 8 games and had 5 TD passes versus Centennial.  He added 145 rushing yards on 45 carries with 6 scores.  He scored TD’s on the ground against Blackman, Lebanon, Wilson Central, Rossview, and had two scores against Centennial that included his career long rush of 25 yards.  His 40 rushing yards against Centennial was also the most in a single game in his career.  In addition to his offensive numbers, Brett was also in the rotation on defense where he had 11 tackles and 1 interception from his free safety position in the defensive secondary.

2016-Started at quarterback all season completing 50% of his pass attempts while throwing for 944 yards.  Was named 2nd team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a quarterback for his efforts during the season.  Ended the season with 55 completions on 109 attempts with 12 touchdowns and 3 interceptions; ran the ball 36 times for 104 yards and 3 scores, and had 3 punts that netted 104 yards.  Had a season high 212 passing yards, which ranked 3rd all-time in HHS history at the time, while completing 12 of 18 passes with 3 TD’s and 1 interception in the team’s 1 point loss to Cane Ridge.  Threw 2 touchdown passes against Siegel, Station Camp, and Glencliff; while tossing 1 against Beech, Hillsboro, and East Nashville.  His interceptions came against McGavock, Cane Ridge, and Beech.  He ran the ball in all 10 games with his best output being 28 yards on 8 attempts against Hillsboro that included his season long rush of 19 yards.  His rushing touchdowns were scored in the Beech, East Nashville, and Station Camp contests.  He punted for the COMMANDOS 3 times during the season with 1 punt against Siegel and 2 versus Hillsboro.  His career long punt of 47 yards was versus the Stars.  He also earned some playing time on defense at safety where he scored 1 defensive touchdown against Glencliff.  His defensive touchdown came as he received a pitch from teammate Weston Schwerdt after Schwerdt intercepted a Colt pass, Brett raced 55 yards to the endzone for the score.

2015-Was the team’s starting quarterback for the final 8 games of the season and earned honorable mention ‘ALL-COUNTY’ at quarterback for his efforts throughout the season helping lead the team to a 10-2 record.  Ended the season with 505 passing yard while completing 29 of his 60 attempts.  He threw 7 touchdowns with 2 interceptions.  He also ran the ball 27 times for 12 yards and 1 touchdown.  He completed passes in 11 of the teams 12 games with his best performance being in the teams 1st round playoff victory over Shelbyville when he went 6 for 6 for 108 yards and 1 TD.  He threw for 2 touchdowns against both East Nashville as well as Hunters Lane, and added 1 TD pass against Station Camp and Independence.  His interceptions came against Hunters Lane and Independence.  Had rushing attempts in 10 games.  His best game running the ball came against Station Camp when he ran 4 times for 24 yards while finding the endzone once.  His longest rush of the season was 20 yards that also came against the Bison.
