What Does Commando Football Mean To You: COMMANDO PRIDE means giving it your all for your coaches and teammates so on Friday that's all you have to give.

Mike committed himself to the team and had a great senior season.  Once he became focused on football, he continually improved; working hard every day.  Earned a starting role on both offense and Special Teams in 2015 and was voted by his teammates as the COMMANDOS ‘MOST VALUABLE BACK’.  He was also a member of the ‘ALL-REGION’ team in 2015 as well as 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a running back.  Mike was one of the most popular players on the team, and he was able to help everyone have fun at practice while still working hard.  Ended his career with 130 rushing attempts for 958 yards and 14 touchdowns, had 4 receptions for 139 yards and 2 TD’s, 6 kickoff returns totaling 141 yards, and had 10 tackles.  Mike was a very elusive, shifty runner that added another dimension to the COMMANDO rushing attack, and it will be hard to find someone to fill in for him.

2015-Had a great year after working extremely hard throughout the summer and in preseason practice.  Was a starting running back for the COMMANDOS, was a starter on Special Teams, and saw some game action in the defensive backfield.  Made the ‘ALL-REGION’ team, was named 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a running back, and won the teams ‘MOST VALUABLE BACK’ award.  Ended the season with 831 rushing yards on 108 attempts while scoring 11 touchdowns.  Also caught 4 passes for 2 more scores and 139 yards.  On defense and Special Teams he added 7 tackles, and he returned 6 kickoffs totaling 141 yards.  Led the team in rushing yards versus Siegel, Glencliff, and Shelbyville while leading the team in rushing attempts versus Siegel, East Nashville, Glencliff, and Shelbyville.  Ran the ball at least 4 times in all 12 contests and had a minimum of 26 yards.  Had an impressive career high of 219 yards in the teams win at Siegel which included his career long rush of 64 yards; also led the team with 69 rushing yards against Glencliff and 93 versus Shelbyville.  He scored 2 rushing TD’s against Siegel, Glencliff, and Shelbyville while adding 1 score versus McGavock, Cane Ridge, Beech, Hillsboro, and Gallatin.  Caught 1 pass against McGavock, Beech, East Nashville, and Station Camp.  His reception versus East Nashville went for a career long 68 yards and he found the endzone, his other receiving TD was a 45 yard catch and run against Station Camp.  Recorded a career high 3 tackles in the team’s 1st round playoff victory over Shelbyville; also had tackles against McGavock, Siegel, Beech, and Station Camp.  Five of his 6 kickoff returns came against Independence where he returned for 126 yards that included his longest return of 29 yards.  His other kickoff return was in the team’s 30-16 win against Beech.

2014-Worked hard learning the offensive and defensive schemes.  Rotated in some on both sides of the ball where he played running back and cornerback.  He ended the season with 127 rushing yards on 22 carries with 3 touchdowns.  He rushed the ball in 8 different games, and had a career high 54 yards that included his career long rush of 36 yards against Portland.  He scored TD’s against Portland, Station Camp, and Independence.  He also had 3 tackles on the season.  He recorded 1 against Hunters Lane and had 2 more in the first round of the class 6A playoffs against Independence.

2013-Played on the JV team.

2012-Did not attend HHS.
