What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Building character and becoming young men. Learning to be a leader.

Although he only played 2 seasons for HHS, Ryan definitely left his mark as a COMMANDO football player.  He is a fine young man with outstanding character, a great student, and became a great player.  Had one of the best postseasons of any player in HHS history coming up with game changing plays in each of the teams first 4 playoff games.  Was voted as the teams ‘Most Valuable Specialty Player’ by his teammates.  Was also one of the teams’ strongest players pound for pound as well as one the fastest players.  Ended his 2 year career with 55 tackles, 1 sack, 13 pass break ups, 1 forced fumble, 2 fumble recoveries, 2 tackles for loss, 2 QB hurries, and 1 interception.  Returned 9 kickoffs for an impressive 388 yards and 2 touchdowns.  Also had 2 punt returns for 31 yards, and 5 rushes for 19 yards.  The plays he made during the teams playoff run in 2010 include: an interception against Gallatin in the 1st Round to allow HHS to run out the clock, an 88 yard kickoff return to start the 2nd half that the put the COMMANDOS up 2 scores in their 2nd Round game versus Henry County, a punt return that set up the game winning touchdown against Clarksville Northeast in the Quarterfinals, and a 85 yard kickoff return for a TD to start the 2nd half of the Ridgeway game which was the teams only points of the 2nd half.

2010-Was a crucial part of the team on Special Teams, and won the ‘Most Valuable Specialty Player’ award which is voted on by his teammates.  Started all season on Special Teams, and was a starter on defense at Strong Safety.  Saw limited game action on offense.  Recorded tackles in 13 of the teams 15 games.  Ended season with 50 tackles, 12 pass break ups, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery, 2 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 2 QB hurries, and 1 interception.  Had a career high 9 tackles in the season opener versus Riverdale.  Had tackles for loss against Riverdale and Lebanon.  Had a career best 3 pass break ups against Gallatin during the regular season.  Had 6 tackles, an interception, and a fumble recovery versus Gallatin in the playoffs.  Recorded 7 tackles and had an 88 yard kickoff return for TD versus Henry County.  Had a career best 25 yard punt return against Clarksville Northeast.  Had his best overall game in the Semifinal matchup with Ridgeway as he had 5 tackles, 1 sack, 1 QB hurry, 2 pass break ups, an 1 forced fumble in addition to scoring the only points of the 2nd half in the COMMANDOS 21-19 victory with an 85 yard kickoff return TD.  Recorded 2 tackles and 1 pass break up in the State Championship Game.  Averaged over 43 yards per kickoff return with his 9 returns for 388 yards and 2 TD’s, and had 2 punt returns for 31 yards.  Also had 4 rushes for 14 yards.  His career long rush was for 13 yards against LaVergne.

2009-Joined team in January and became a starter on multiple special teams.  Saw some game action at Strong Safety, and was a reserve Running Back.  Ended season with 5 tackles, 1 pass break up, 1 fumble recovery, and 1 rush for 5 yards.  Had a season high 3 tackles versus Hunters Lane, and had fumble recovery in that game.  Also recorded tackles against Riverdale and Station Camp.  Pass breakup came against Lebanon.  His rush came in Portland game.  Was also JV player.
