What Does Commando Football Mean To You: It means hard work and commitment.

James was one of the leaders of his team, and a big reason why HHS was able to make their second straight playoff appearance his senior year.  He was voted as a 'Team Captain' his senior year by his teammates.  Always gave his all in practice, workouts, and games.  Fought through injuries throughout his entire career.  Played Defensive Tackle, Noseguard, and Defensive End in his three years on the Varsity team as well as Tight End and Offensive Tackle.  Ended career with 56 tackles, 8 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 8 QB Hurries, 3 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery, and 3 receptions for 62 yards. Was also one of the teams’ strongest players in all lifts as he was a member of the 1,000 lb club, and he currently holds the Iron Bunker record on the Power Clean with 300 lbs.  Was also an Honorable Mention selection for the 2009 All-County Team.

2009-Was a starter a Defensive End, and started some games at Tight End.  Saw game action on both sides of the ball in every game except Mt. Juliet (injury).  Recorded tackles in every game he played in, including a career high of 8 in the Portland game.  Forced fumbles against Riverdale, Wilson Central, and Beech.  Recovered a fumble in the teams’ playoff game versus Clarksville Northeast.  Also, had tackles for loss in the Riverdale, Station Camp, Portland, Beech, and Northeast games.  Ended season with 33 tackles.  Was on the receiving end of 3 passes for 62 yards.  Caught 2 balls against Portland for 44 yards with a career long reception of 38 yards.  Also had 1 catch for 18 yards against Gallatin.

2008-Through hard work James became one of the strongest players on the 2008 team. Had a team best of 265 lbs on Power Clean and his total of 1,170 lbs was impressive.  Had disappointing season due to injuries, ending with 3 total tackles.  Had to miss the majority of the season with injuries.  Had season high 2 tackles against Beech, and 1 tackle against Glencliff while wearing #51.

2007-Was a starter at Defensive Tackle, and had 20 total tackles with 1 sack, 3 tackles for loss and 7 QB Hurries.  Wore #51 for the COMMANDOS.

2006-Member of the Freshman team.  Played Offensive and Defensive Line.

-Member of the HHS track and field team where he has consistently been the best discus thrower.
