What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Hard Work, Respect, Having Fun

Nigel had a stellar 4 year career for the COMMANDOS.  He got his name in the COMMANDO football record books several times including leaving the program as the all time leading receiver in career receptions with 62 and career yards with 1,102.  Was named a ‘2nd Team All-County’ performer as both a Junior and a Senior, and was the teams leading receiver in both of those seasons.  Also did an excellent job playing at Cornerback in the defensive secondary and a return man for HHS.  Ended career with 62 receptions for 1,102 yards and 8 touchdowns.  Had 16 kickoff returns for 415 yards and 1 TD, 38 punt returns for 215 yards and 1 TD.  On defense, Nigel made 33 tackles, 4 interceptions, 12 pass break ups, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.  Led team in catches in 20 of the 26 games played during his Junior and Senior season while leading the team in receiving yards in 17 games over the same time.  Also is in the record books with the 2nd most receiving yards in a season (709 yards in 2010), 2nd longest catch in history (90 yard TD reception versus Lebanon in 2009), 2nd longest kickoff return (93 yard TD versus Lebanon in 2010), and 4th longest reception (76 yard TD versus Northeast in the playoffs in 2010).  Nigel was one the teams’ best athletes and is also a superb track athlete where he excels in multiple events including the decathlon.

2010-Had a great season at receiver, and helped team on defense and as a kick returner.  Was named ‘2nd Team All-County’ as a receiver.  Led team in receptions in 12 of the teams 15 games including a career high 7 catches versus LaVergne.  Also led team in receiving yards in 10 games and caught 4 TD passes.  Had 97 yards receiving in the Quarter-Final playoff game against Clarksville Northeast including the 4th longest pass play in COMMANDO football history which was a 76 yard TD that was thrown by Hunter Brown.  Ended season with 42 catches which is the most receptions for a season in school history, and 709 yards which is 2nd most in school history.  Scored touchdowns versus Lebanon, Station Camp, Portland, and Northeast.  Recorded 22 tackles, 9 pass break ups, and 1 interception on defense.  Had a career high of 4 tackles in both the Lebanon and LaVergne games.  Had his career best of 3 pass break ups against both LaVergne and Gallatin.  Interception came in the Lebanon game.  Returned punts and kickoffs for the team throughout the season.  Had the 2nd longest kickoff return in school history with a 90 yard TD return to start the 2nd half of the Lebanon game.  That kickoff return was his first of the season.  Had 5 catches for 94 yards, 2 tackles, and 3 kickoff returns for 39 yards in the State Championship Game.

2009-Was a ‘2nd Team All-County’ performer at receiver with 20 receptions for 393 yards and 4 TD's.  His longest reception of 90 yards from COMMANDO quarterback Hunter Brown versus Lebanon was the 2nd longest pass play in school history.  Nigel was also the teams punt returner, and was in the rotation in the defensive backfield at corner.  Caught passes in 9 of the COMMANDOS 11 games including leading the team in catches in 8 games, and led team in receiving yards in 7 games.  Season high of 4 receptions came against Riverdale, and career high of 131 receiving yards came against Lebanon.  Scored receiving TD's versus Riverdale, Lebanon, Hunters Lane, and Beech.  Had 16 punt returns for 85 yards with 1 TD.  Career long punt return came in Station Camp game with a 43 TD return.  Had 3 kickoff returns for 50 yards.  Recorded 8 tackles on defense including a season high of 3 in Lebanon game, had 2 interceptions, 1 against Lebanon and 1 against Gallatin.  Also had 3 pass break ups.

2008-Saw game action in multiple games.  Ended season with 3 tackles, 1 interception, 1 forced fumble, and 2 punt returns for 6 yards.  Had a season best 2 tackles versus Dickson County, and also forced a fumble in that game; recorded 1 tackle in Antioch game; interception came against Glencliff; longest punt return of 4 yards came against Hillwood.  Was also a great practice player, and an important part of the JV team in for the COMMANDOS in 2008. 

2007-Played Defensive Back, Split End, and Full Back for the Freshman team in 2007. Hard worker who plays bigger than he is and will always do whatever is asked of him.  Was also a member of the Track and Field team where he competed in the 300 meter hurdles, high jump, 800 meters, and the decathlon.
