What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Commando Football is a brotherhood that will do anything to achieve the ultimate goal.

Corey had a very productive Senior season where he propelled his team to a State Championship Game appearance with his great effort and production in the playoffs.  He was one of the teams’ leaders, and that was evident at the team awards banquet where he took home 3 awards following his Senior year, all of which were voted by his teammates.  For the second consecutive year, he was voted as the ‘Most Valuable Back’, he also won ‘Most Valuable Player’ for the 2nd time in his career as he won the same award for the Freshman team during his Freshman year; and he was voted as a ‘Team Captain’ along with fellow Senior Gunnar Franks.  In addition to those awards, Corey was name ‘All-County’ during both his Junior and Senior seasons.  Had a great career for the COMMANDOS ending 4th all time in rushing yards in school history with 2,100.  He also made the record books with the 3rd most yards in a single with his 241 yard performance as the team beat White Station in the semifinals of the playoffs.  He scored 16 touchdowns and had 11 receptions for 65 yards on the offensive side of ball.  He had 1 kickoff return that went for 5 yards, and recorded 6 tackles.  Corey was one of the teams strongest and fastest players, that combination made him very tough to bring down when he had the ball in his hands.  His physical running style is something that the COMMANDOS will greatly miss.

2013-Was the leading rusher for an offense that had the most rushing yards in school history.  Was also a team leader and was voted by his teammates as ‘Team Captain’, ‘Most Valuable Player’, and ‘Most Valuable Back’ as well as being named 1st team ‘All-County’ at Running Back for his efforts.  Had 1,223 yards on the ground with 13 touchdowns and one two point conversion; added 1 reception that was good for 11 yards.  Was the leading scorer for the COMMANDOS with 80 of the teams’ school record of 534 points.  Missed 4 games due to injury during the season, but led team in rushing yards in 7 of the 11 games he played in.  Led team in carries in 9 different games.  Stepped up and carried the offense in the playoffs as he had 679 of his rushing yards and 10 touchdowns in the teams 5 playoff games.  Led team in carries in 4 of the playoff games and lead team in rushing yards in 3 of those games.  His career high of 241 rushing yards in a game, which is the 4th best in school history, was in the teams semifinal 49-41 win against White Station that earned the COMMANDOS a berth in the TSSAA class 6A State Championship Game.  Also led team against Independence with 213 yards, Lebanon with 136 yards, Brentwood with 120 yards, Wilson Central with 112 yards, Station Camp with 64 yards, and Maryville with 54 yards.  Had a career best of 4 touchdowns in the Arlington game; also score TD’s against Lebanon, Brentwood, Mt. Juliet, Station Camp, Independence, and White Station.  His 13 rushing touchdowns is the 4th most during a season in HHS football history, and his 187 carries ranks 5th all time.  His reception came against Brentwood.

2012-Despite missing the first 4 games of the season with an injury that occurred in the preseason, Corey had a very productive year on the offensive side of the ball from his Fullback position.  He ended the season 3rd on the team with 471 rushing yards and was 1st with 96 carries.  He was voted by his teammates as the ‘Most Valuable Back’ and earned honorable mention ‘All-County’ for his efforts during the 6 games he was able to play.  In addition to the rushes and yards, he had 9 receptions for 45 yards, recorded 2 tackles on defense, and had 1 kickoff return for 5 yards.  After getting his first game action of the season against Portland where he had 5 rushes for 24 yards, he led the team in carries in each of the last 5 games, and in rushing yards in 4 of those games.  Had a season high of 175 yards in the Mt. Juliet game.  Led team against Riverdale with 19 carries for 83 yards, Beech with 17 for 93, Gallatin with 15 for 47, and Mt. Juliet with 28 for 175.  Caught passes against Riverdale, Beech, Gallatin, and Lebanon.  Led team with 2 catches against Beech that included his career long reception of 10 yards, and had a career best 4 receptions against Gallatin.  His lone kickoff return was also in the Gallatin game, and went for 5 yards.  He made the move from Strong Safety to Linebacker on defense where he saw limited game action; he recorded 1 tackle against Riverdale and 1 versus Beech.

2011-Had a productive year carrying the football from his Running Back position.  Averaged over 9.5 yards per carry during the season and led team in rushing yards twice.  Ended season with 42 rushing attempts for 406 yards and 3 TD’s, had 1 reception for 9 yards, and added 4 tackles on defense.  Corey also played in all of the JV games.  Was the team’s leading rusher against Portland and Gallatin.  His reception came in the Mt. Juliet game.  Had a season high 92 rushing yards against Lebanon.  Scored TD’s versus Portland, Springfield, and Henry County.  His career long rush of 69 yards was the COMMANDOS only touchdown in the semifinal appearance against Henry County.  He also saw some playing time at Strong Safety.  He had a season high 2 tackles versus Portland, and added 1 tackle against Germantown and 1 against Beech.

2010-Corey had an outstanding Freshman season, and finished the season with one of the highest rushing totals ever by a Freshman COMMANDO.  Led the team in rushing yards with a little under 1,500.  He was second on the team in total touchdowns.  He also was the punter for the freshman team.  Corey was voted by his peers as the teams’ ‘Most Valuable Player’.
