What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Build in character as a man and a player.

Shane was a four year player for the COMMANDOS, and leaves with Iron Bunker record for power ratio meaning he is the strongest player pound for pound (power ration is calculated based on the total weight lifting and your body weight) to ever play at HHS.  His record for power ratio is an impressive 8.3.  He won the award for ‘Best Lifter’ at the COMMANDO lift-a-thon in both his junior and senior seasons, tying the iron bunker record for power ratio as a junior before breaking it as a senior.  After missing his sophomore season with an injury, Shane improved throughout his junior year before having a productive season in 2014 helping the team to a District 9-AAA title.  He played strong safety, fullback, and saw action on Special Teams.  He was undersized, but he made up for it with his strength and effort.  He played as hard as anyone on the team every snap that he was in the game.  Ended his career with 28 tackles, 1 tackle for loss, 3 QB hurries, and 8 pass break ups on defense.  From his fullback position, he totaled 235 yards on 28 carries with 4 touchdowns, and added 1 reception for 25 yards that was good for a TD.  He also entered the COMMANDO record books with an 80 yard TD run against Brentwood in 2014 which is the 5th longest run in school history.  He learned COMMANDO PRIDE, and his effort, attitude, and hustle is something all players could use.

2014-Saw game action all season long at strong safety on defense, and rushed the ball in 8 of the teams 12 games on offense.  He was dedicated to the weightroom in the offseason where he won the trophy for ‘Best Lifter’ for the 2nd straight season.  His power ratio of 8.3 was the best in school history.  Ended the season with 27 tackles, 8 pass break ups, 1 tackle for loss, and 3 QB pressures.  Had a career high 6 tackles in the team’s 44-0 victory against Station Camp where he also had a tackle for loss.  He recorded tackles in 9 other games during the season.  All three of his QB hurries came in the teams 1st round playoff win against Independence; had pass break ups against Hunters Lane, Lebanon, Brentwood, Gallatin, and Independence.  On offense, he had 25 carries for 207 yards and 4 touchdowns, he led the team in rushing attempts against Lebanon with 6 carries.  His career high 78 rushing yards came against Brentwood when he also had his career long rush of 80 yards.  That 80 yard run is the 5th longest rush in COMMANDO football history.  Scored rushing TD’s against Hunters Lane, Lebanon, Brentwood, and Portland.  He also had 1 reception that was good for a 25 yard touchdown in the Gallatin game.

2013-Played in all JV games, and saw limited action on offense and defense.  Practiced hard every day and helped the team make a State Championship Game appearance in the COMMANDOS first season in class 6A.  During Lift-A-Thon in the spring, Shane took home the trophy for ‘Best Lifter’ as he tied the school record for power ration at 8.1 (the power ration is calculated based on the amount each player is able to lift and their body weight).  Ended season with 1 tackle on defense that came against Portland.  On offense, Shane had 3 rushing attempts that went for 28 yards.  His season long run of 25 yards was in the Mt. Juliet game when he had 2 rushes for 27 yards; added 1 rush for 1 yard versus Hunters Lane.

2012-Had to miss entire season with an injury.

2011-As one of the Freshman teams toughest kids, Shane was the starting Fullback.  He was also a starter on all of the Special Teams and was a leader on and off the field.  Wore jersey #31 for the freshman.
