What Does Commando Football Mean To You: Hard work and brotherhood.

Deven was a four year player for the COMMANDOS where he helped the freshman team to an undefeated season followed up with helping the varsity team to three straight 10 plus win seasons and a District 9-AAA Championship in 2014.  He was a good athlete that had the ability to play multiple positions on both sides of the ball.  After being a running back, he eventually ended up as a tight end on offense, while on defense moving from linebacker to end during his career.  Deven saw important game action on defense during each of his three seasons as a varsity player and was a crucial member of the tight end rotation during his senior season where he caught one pass that was good for a touchdown versus East Nashville.  Ended his career with 26 total tackles, 7 tackles for lost yardage, 1 QB hurry, and 2 pass break ups.  Deven’s great versatility along with his great attitude and practice habits will be hard to replace for HHS.

2015-Saw significant playing time in all three phases of the game helping HHS to a 10 win season.  Played tight end on offense while making the switch from linebacker to defensive end on the defensive side of the ball.  He did a good job blocking from his tight end position where he helped open up holes for the offensive backs.  He also made one reception that was a 4 yard touchdown catch against East Nashville.  On defense, he ended the season with 10 tackles and 4 tackles for loss.  Recorded tackles in 6 different games including having a career high of 3 tackles against Hillsboro.  His tackles for lost yardage came in the games against Hillsboro, East Nashville, Gallatin, and Hunters Lane.

2014-Earned playing time at linebacker on the defensive side of the ball, and saw limited game action on offense at tight end.  Ended the season with 10 tackles, 2 tackles for loss, 1 QB hurry, and 2 pass break ups.  Recorded tackles in 6 different games.  He had a season best of 2 stops four times during the season.  Had 2 tackles against Wilson Central, Hunters Lane, Brentwood, and Gallatin.  Had 1 tackle for lost yardage against both Hunters Lane as well as in the team’s 1st round playoff victory against Independence.  Recorded 1 pass break up against Hunters Lane and 1 against Brentwood.  His QB pressure came in the Hunters Lane contest.

2013-Played on the JV team, but was also able to earn some game action at Linebacker.  His discipline practice habits helped him improve everyday and helped him get better.  Ended season with 6 tackles and 1 tackle for loss.  Recorded tackles in 5 different games.  His season best of 2 tackles came against Riverdale when he also had his tackle for loss; also had tackles against Hunters Lane, Portland, Mt. Juliet, and Beech.  Wore jersey #54 for his Sophomore season.

2012-Deven was the leader of the Freshman defense, and a big part of the reason why they ended the season with a perfect 9-0 record.  He was one of the most physical players on the team, and he plays and hits hard on every play.  Deven wore jersey # 40 as a freshman.
