What Does Commando Football Mean To You: BROTHERHOOD!

Emmitt was a lineman for the COMMANDOS on both sides of the ball and was a four year player in the program.  He was an explosive player that had great speed and quickness for his size.  He had an excellent career earning 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ honors in 2015 as well as 2016, was selected to play on the defensive line for the west team in the Toyota ‘EAST-WEST ALL-STAR CLASSIC’ helping lead the west team to a win in 2016, and was also a member of the ‘ALL-REGION’ team in 2015.  Ended his career with 93 tackles, 2 sacks, 14 tackles for loss, 12 QB pressures, 2 pass knock downs, 3 forced fumbles, and 5 fumble recoveries.  He had the ability to play anywhere on the defensive line while being a guard on the offensive line.  He started on the defensive front for the COMMANDOS in all three of his seasons with the varsity team where he was very difficult for opponents to account for.  On offense he improved each season ending up starting at guard during his senior season while also playing some on the offensive line during his junior year.  His unique abilities along with his strength will be tough to replace.

2016-Had another excellent season in the trenches for the COMMANDOS.  He started all season on the defensive side of the ball, and was a two way starter for a lot of the season as he played guard on offense.  Was named 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a defensive lineman for his play during the season, and was named to play in the Toyota ‘EAST-WEST ALL-STAR CLASSIC’ for the west team helping them to a win in that game.  He was a solid blocker on the offensive line helping open holes for the team’s rushers to gain yards.  On defense, he recorded stops in 8 of the team’s 10 games ending the season with 29 tackles, 5 QB hurries, 2 pass knock downs, 5 tackles for loss, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery.  Led the team in tackles against East Nashville with a season high 6 stops.  Had 3 QB hurries against Cane Ridge while adding 2 versus Siegel.  Had 2 tackles for loss against East Nashville; his other tackles for loss came in the games against Cane Ridge, Hillsboro, and Gallatin.  He forced a fumble in the teams win over Station Camp while his fumble recovery came versus Hillsboro.  Both of his pass knock downs were in the Siegel contest.

2015-Did a great job on the defensive line ending the season tied for the 2nd most tackles on the team with 40 total stops.  For his efforts during the season, he was named to the ‘ALL-REGION’ team as well as being 1st team ‘ALL-COUNTY’ as a defensive lineman.  He also saw a little game action on the offensive line.  Ended the season with 40 tackles, 9 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 3 forced fumbles, and 2 fumble recoveries.  Recorded at least 1 tackle in all 12 games, and led the team in tackles in 1 game.  Had a career high 7 stops twice during the season, the first being against East Nashville when he added 3 tackles for loss, his sack, and a forced fumble, and the second being the teams 1st round playoff victory against Shelbyville when he led the team with 7 tackles.  His other forced fumbles came in the Beech and Glencliff games.  Both of his fumble recoveries came in the team’s 30-16 win over Beech.  He recorded tackles for lost yardage against Beech, Hillsboro, East Nashville, Station Camp, Hunters Lane, Shelbyville, and Independence.

2014-Had a solid sophomore campaign, starting several games on the defensive line for the District 9-AAA Champion COMMANDOS.  Ended the season with 24 tackles, 1 sack, 7 QB hurries, and 1 forced fumble.  Recorded stops in 10 of the teams 12 games during the season.  Had a season high 5 tackles in the teams 2nd round playoff defeat to Centennial.  His sack came in the Hunters Lane game and his forced fumble was against Gallatin.  Had a career high 4 QB pressures against Lebanon; also recorded 2 hurries versus Wilson Central and had 1 versus Hunters Lane.

2013-Was the biggest kid on the team and very tough for opponents to block; he was a major contributor on the defensive line where he did a great job all season being an anchor point.  He helped the Freshman to a perfect season that ended with a 33-30 victory against the previously undefeated Oakland Patriots in the Freedom Bowl.  He wore jersey #78 for the Freshman COMMANDOS.
